THREE Inverness-based good causes have benefited from substantial donations because of the work safety record of a major oil rig refurbishment project.

Highland Hospice, MFR Cash for Kids and Raigmore Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit each received £2000 as a result of the triple safety collaboration initiative run during the Well-Safe Guardian’s repair and upgrade project which is being carried out at Nigg Energy Park near Tain.

The rig is currently undergoing a major refurbishment and the workforce were asked to decide on the safety initiative and how funds raised through it should be allocated.

They committed to donating £100 for every 10,000 incident-free work hours achieved to the three nominated local charities.

Neil Ferguson, operations director at Well-Safe Solutions, said: “We are proud that the hard work of everybody involved has paid off, benefiting three great charities.”
