Pupils from Lochardil Primary were surprised when they were complimented by the original singer of one of the songs they performed at this year's Inverness Music Festival.

The P4 youngsters were performing in a choirs and performed song category and they sang a version of Touch the Sky which features on the soundtrack of the animated film Brave.

However they did not realise that Scottish singer Julie Fowlis, who sang it in the film, was also at Eden Court when they gave their own performance of her track.

Yesterday she tweeted to the school: "Just a note to say that I was in Eden Court this morning for the choirs competition and you guys did a brilliant job of Touch The Sky. Well done."

The school replied in another tweet and said: "Wow thank you so much. Praise from the highest. Our P4s loved every minute of their first experience today and sharing such a beautiful song. Hope we did you proud. You're welcome to pop in any time you are in the area."
