An Inverness pharmacy has been named as Scotland’s community pharmacy practice of the year in an online awards ceremony.

Lochardil Pharmacy was recognised at the awards organised by the Scottish Pharmacy magazine.

Branch manager Lisa MacPherson said they are at the heart of the community and probably impressed due to the various services they offer – including free deliveries.

“We have drivers out every single day for people that need it – especially in the current situation with Covid-19 because people still need their medication as well,” she said.

There are a total of 17 full-time and part-time members of staff including pharmacists, drivers and counter staff.

Mrs MacPherson said they also have two Saturday staff and one of them wants to eventually qualify as a doctor.

She added: “We’ve changed the team quite a lot. The majority of our team are under-25 and they are willing to learn.”

They also pick a chosen charity every year and the current cause they are collecting for is Lucky2BHere which will see a defibrillator placed outside the shop to benefit the local area.

“We’ve had two customers that have donated over £100,” Mrs MacPherson said.

There were a total of 10 awards up for grabs at the Scottish Pharmacy Awards.
