A POPULAR Nairn dining and entertainment spot is set to be given a new lease of life after being taken over by a new management team.

Paul and Lyndy Geddes have taken over the Braeval Hotel and Bandstand Bar and Restaurant and say they are keen to retain the community-led ethos that has made it a destination of choice fin the seaside town. Mr Geddes said: “The hotel is an amazing venue, especially because it’s a landmark location in Nairn.

“We’re delighted to have landed in such a beautiful location with a great team committed to providing excellent customer service and high quality food and drink.”

Mr and Mrs Geddes say they believe it is important to maintain the venue’s reputation for top entertainment and as such will continue to host live music throughout the year.

The hotel, which has 11 guest rooms, is to receive a “gentle makeover” and the selection of food and drink on the menu will also be expanded.

The range of beer and cask ales has already been expanded and more than 140 malt whiskies and 40 gins are now available.

Mrs Geddes said: “We’ll be keeping it as a ‘regulars bar’ with friendly and familiar faces, where people know each other and can meet new interesting people who visit the area”.

The couple also confirmed that they will be carrying on the legacy left by the previous owners, local hoteliers Morag and Gordon Holding, and will be running the very popular Bandstand Beer Festival on Friday and Saturday, May 3 and 4.

Mr Geddes said: “The Bandstand Beer Festival is the largest independent beer festival in Scotland, boasting more than 100 real ales, ciders and craft beers from all over the UK.”
