Police have charged a 20-year-old man following the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of £13,500 in Inverness.

Around 2pm on yesterday officers stopped and searched a man in Merkinch Place and recovered a large quantity of cannabis along with £2000 in cash.

The man was arrested and charged in connection with alleged drug offences.

Sergeant Michael Clark, from the divisional flexible policing team, said: "We remain committed to tackling and disrupting the supply of controlled drugs in the Highlands and Islands.

"Members of the public have a vital role in reporting information to us and I would urge anyone who has any information to contact 101."
