Police raid reveals Inverness man’s possession of hundreds of child pornography images
Police acting on intelligence they received raided an address in the town and discovered that a young man was in possession of hundreds of indecent sexual images and videos of children on his mobile phone.
This was heard at Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday when Mitchel Stephen (21) appeared on indictment and admitted that between January 2022 and January 3, 2023 at Smithton Park and Murray Road or elsewhere he was in possession of indecent photos or videos of children being sexually exploited.
He also admitted on indictment that between December 18, 2022, and December 21, 2022 he did distribute or share indecent images or pseudo images of children.
They included some who appeared to be aged as young as one-year-old said fiscal depute Alison Young.
The court heard five still images and 230 videos were of Category A or most serious. There were also four still images and 123 videos in Category B and six stills and 77 videos in Category C.
Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald said she was deferring sentence for reports until July 16, but told Stephen she was considering all sentencing options, and in the meantime he was being placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register.
