Police continue to investigate a blaze that gutted a house in the Hilton area of Inverness.

Seven days on from a fire they believe was started deliberately, officers are still gathering evidence as to what happened at the end terrace property on Evan Barron Road.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 8.50pm last Friday evening (December 20) after nearby householders raised the alarm.

They used hose reel jets, breathing apparatus, a height vehicle and a nine metre ladder to extinguish the flames.

The property has been cordoned off during investigations, with a Police Scotland spokesman confirming this morning: “Enquiries are ongoing.”

That follows confirmation that the force was treating the fire as a “wilful” act of fire-raising.

It is thought the building was unoccupied prior to the blaze.
