POLICE have been carrying out speed and vehicle safety checks across the Highlands – and have urged motorists to be 'winter ready'.

In recent days police patrols, armed with speed guns, have been posted to a range of locations, including Beauly, Fort Augustus and the A82.

"Officers are carrying out speed checks and providing winter safety advice," said a police spokesman.

"Is your car winter ready? Please take the time to check."
