Police say inquiries are ongoing after a disturbance in the city shortly after midnight in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Witnesses say a number of police units, including dog handlers and what appeared to be an armed response unit, were called to South Kessock.

Police say they attended an incident in Bridgeview Drive at 12.35am on Thursday morning, following reports of a disturbance.

A police spokesman said: "A search of the area was subsequently carried out.

"No one was seriously injured, and inquiries are ongoing."

One witness said he was returning from a walk at the time, and was alarmed by the number of officers that were in the area.

He said: "There was a large police presence heading across the Grant Street bridge into the South Kessock and Ferry area.

"I saw the dog unit van, what looked like an armed response unit and a number of other police vehicles."
