Police Scotland officers in the Highlands stepping up patrols in Inverness neighbourhood after incidents including house breaking
Police patrols are to be stepped up in an Inverness neighbourhood after incidents in the area, including the theft of cash from a house.
Officers have also stressed the “increasing importance” of staying a step ahead of criminals after thieves stole money from a home and a man later tried a car door on the same street.
Police Scotland has urged people to make sure their property is safe after the incidents in the Croft Road area of Scorguie on Friday.
In the first incident, thieves entered a house in the early hours of Friday morning and stole cash, while in the second witnesses reported a man trying to open a car door on the same street on the same day.
Launching an appeal for information about the Croft Road incidents, officers also asked people to be on the alert for further possible incidents.
Inspector Emma Wright said: “It is increasingly important that people stay one step ahead of criminals in the fight against this type of crime.
“We would encourage people to review their own security and to take a few extra precautions to support preventing this activity.
"It is particularly important to ensure that home and vehicle doors are securely locked.
“Additional patrols will be carried out to prevent this kind of criminality. If you witness any suspicious behaviour, call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
The Scorguie incidents come just hours after officers warned about courier scammers targeting the city in the wake of news that a Scorguie resident lost a five-figure sum of money to thieves.
