POLICE have confirmed that they are investigating the cause of a major fire at a Ross-shire school.

Officers have appealed for witnesses following the blaze at Park Primary School in Invergordon on Saturday morning.

The blaze, the second major fire to hit the site in the space of a year, caused significant damage to the remaining building – punching holes in the roof before firefighters were able to quench the flames.

The cause of this morning’s fire is unknown, but police are investigating.

A spokesman said: “Police in Invergordon are appealing for witnesses after a fire was discovered at Park Primary School in Albany Street, around 7am on Saturday.

“Enquiries are currently ongoing, and a joint investigation with Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be carried out to establish the cause of the fire.

“Anyone who was in the area, or who has CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 0918 of February 27.”
