POLICE have appealed for information after a thief who stole a Black Isle tractor left a trail of destruction in their wake.

The blue Ford 7840 tractor and trailer was stolen from a field next to Balloan Farm on the Black Isle sometime between 6.30pm on Saturday and 5.20am on Sunday. It then caused extensive damage to private and and public property - including destroying a bus shelter in Conon Bridge.

"It is suspected the tractor travelled in a westerly along the B9163 where a short time later the trailer detached," said a police spokeswoman. "The tractor has continued along the B9163 before crossing the A9 into Conon Bridge, striking and destroying a bus shelter on the Leanaig Road.

"It has continued into the grounds of the Riverford Garage in the village. Whilst being driven this tractor has caused extensive damage to both private and public property."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
