Plenty of inspiration for 'soon-to-be-married' couples at the Highland Wedding Fair

They say falling in love is the easy part. But planning a wedding?

Close to forty award-winning specialists and suppliers were on hand today to inspire the 'soon-to-be-wed' at the autumn Inverness Courier Highland Wedding Fair.

Couples swept round the stands at Eden Court Theatre and Cinema in Inverness after doors opened at midday, seeking ideas and insight to help them piece together their ideal 'big day'.

There was a bit of everything for planning couples – from photography, to venues, and catering to attire.

Among the exhibitors were ATB Jewellery, who offer a range of affordable luxury and bespoke jewellery.

Owner of ATB Jewellery, Heather Smith said: "These fairs are really helpful in terms of setting a budget, for couples to get out and see what prices are like. It allows couples to see what is on offer and helps them to put their dream wedding together.

"It can be very overwhelming. I have a lot of couples who come here and don't know their ring size, they don't know where to start, so a lot have really appreciated the advice they have had today. Some couples aren't sure which metals are best for their life style, and how much of their budget they need to allow for that.

"The fair is also essential for businesses like us to get our name out and to have that personal interaction with people."

Holly McFalls, the owner of Whisky and Bloom, who provide printed materials such as invitations and wedding favours, was delighted with the turnout at the event.

She said: "This has been the best wedding fair we've done this year so far. The people have been really lovely. The community here is great and the people are great. We love it.

"We have met a lot of people who have been going for an autumn theme and vibe. People have noticed that trends are changing and they want more wild flower designs, or something more 'starry night' themed with autumnal themed items.

"It is so much more unique. People are choosing things that are more 'them' and keen to step out of the traditional. It could be minute things like subtle changes to a wedding dress, using dried flowers for example, stepping out of their comfort zone."

The afternoon was rounded off with a fashion show at 2pm.

Couples seeking inspiration for bridal wear and wedding outfits watched in awe as a spectacular team of models exhibited a selection of outfits.

The catwalk featured a stunning display of bridal wear from Opalily Bridal and mother of the bride outfits from La-Di-Da Fashion.

A range of stunning hair accessories from Alexandra Bespoke was complimented by some inspirational styles from bridal hair by Natasha.

The experience was further enhanced by Highland Castle Entertainment who provided expert sound and lighting along with a musical backdrop from Highland Harpist, Emma Chisholm Wright

The decor was provided by Dream Events by Sarah.
