Highland Council has applied for planning permission to build new nurseries alongside existing primary schools.

The improvements planned for Duncan Forbes Primary School in Keppoch Road and Hilton Primary School in Temple Crescent include new playground facilities and alterations to access and parking.

The building work in Culloden would cover an area of 3678 square metres and be contained within the existing school grounds.

It would provide an additional 16 parking spaces, bringing the total to 30, as well as a new turning space for motorists.

The proposed Culloden nursery would be to the east end of the existing school site and would include two classrooms catering for 64 children, as well as a reception, a staff room and storage facilities.

The Hilton Primary School site would cover an area of 4228 square metres and would also be contained within the existing school grounds.

Alterations would provide side-on bay parking in Aird Avenue, with 10 new spaces created.

The nursery would cater for 24 two-year-olds and 96 three and four-year-olds.

The additional parking spaces at Duncan Forbes Primary School would be created to the front of the school building.

The playground in Culloden would feature fruit trees, planters, external lighting and two mud kitchens.
