A landowner is seeking planning permission to convert an old stone steading at Daviot into a farm shop and café.

Businessman and farmer Gary Macdonald wants to revive a project which first gained consent from Highland Council in December 2015.

The plan is to create a farm shop complex at Scatraig farm, just west of the A9 on the B851 route, serving as a destination for locals and visitors.

There would be part demolition of agricultural buildings including metal clad barns, with the stone steading extended and redeveloped.

It would feature a 34-seat café with additional seasonal outdoor seating for 24 within a courtyard.

There would also be a farm shop with a meat counter, selling locally produced and sourced foodstuffs, as well as an outlet store for retail of clothes and gifts.

Also included in the proposal are toilets and baby changing facilities, offices, staff rooms and storage.

The applicant’s agents have emphasised that the design and siting of the café and farm shop would be sympathetic to the setting and landscape, while avoiding a loss of local croft land.
