WeBuyAnyCar seeks permission for new pod at Inverness Morrisons supermarket
A popular car sales firm has submitted plans to Highland Council for a new customer pod at a supermarket car park in Inverness.
WeBuyAnyCar.com, in partnership with Wm Morrison Supermarkets Ltd, is seeking permission to install the small structure within the existing car park at Morrisons on Millburn Road. The project has been designed by Whittam Cox Architects, who were commissioned by Morrisons to “extend the existing retail offer” at the Inverness store.
According to the design statement, the proposed plans for the pod aims to “revitalise the existing Morrisons car park by offering more choice to customers,” as well as “generating new employment opportunities.”
If approved, the development would see the pod positioned on two existing parking spaces, resulting in a minor reduction in the total number of bays available.
Access would remain via the current Morrisons car park entrance and layout, with no significant disruption to shoppers anticipated.
The proposal emphasises that the Millburn Road car park is better suited for a pod than a town centre location, due to parking, delivery, and operational constraints in central car parks.
Highland Council is currently considering the planning application.
