PICTURES: Sun shines on Nairn Show day as crowds flock to record-breaking edition
A POPULAR event full of fun activities and showcasing the best of local farming in Nairnshire attracted crowds in town at the weekend.
Making the most out of the sunny weather, committee members think this might be the biggest Nairn Show to date as counting is yet to be finalised.
Farming society commitee member, Claire Rhind said it was an incredible day.
"It was amazing! We don't have the final figures yet but we think this is probably the biggest show yet.
"This year's edition was really successful – we had a record number of children attending with three kid's races and also 30 dogs entering the pet parade which was lovely to see.
"Some stalls had to go back home earlier because they were out of stock only a few hours in! We even doubled-up the space in the car park from last year and it was full by midday."
"Everyone enjoyed themselves, it was a gorgeous day full of laughter.
"Our main sponsor Haventus – who run Ardersier Port – also had a really positive interaction with people in attendance, showing the human element to the company.
"I had not realised how many people come from other areas and plan their holidays to attend the show, it's really amazing."
Champion of Champions on the day was Silvermere Pedigree Livestock with a Texel ewe lamb.
Local farmer Willie Lean took home the winning title at the vintage truck show and pupils at Nairn's First Steps Nursery were delighted to win the Scarecrow competition.
