Potholes are continuing to drive city motorists round the bend – if pictures captured by HN photographers are anything to go by.

Deep pits on the A9 slip road at the junction with Culloden Road were causing a difficult time for drivers – as just one particularly dramatic example of the problem.

Potholes are also causing trouble on the roundabout in Eastfield Way, off the A96 near the Inverness Shopping Park, and also at the city’s Waterloo Place.

BEAR Scotland is responsible for maintenance on trunk roads while Highland Council covers the rest.

A council spokesman said the local authority was aware of the issues highlighted here, but could not provide a timescale for repairs.

“Our roads team is working constantly to repair as many reported defects as we can,” he said.

The council’s city of Inverness area committee recently approved a £4.34 million roads programme for 2021/22.

Work agreed includes resurfacing of the A862 from Telford Street roundabout to King Brude Road junction; General Booth Road; the Academy Street/Friars Lane junction; Drummond Road; Crown Circus; Lochalsh Road; Seafield Road; and Montague Row.

In total, more than 30km of road across the overall Inverness area is scheduled to receive surface treatment this year.
