Award-winning Highland News & Media photographer Gary Anthony, who has died aged 58, was highly regarded among colleagues, peers and readers.

During 40 years in the industry, he was on the front line as new stories unfolded, capturing dramatic events, people's triumphs and tragedies and reflecting life in the community around him.

He joined Scottish Provincial Press – later Highland News & Media – in 2007 and became chief photographer in 2013.

His flair and instinct for capturing eye-catching pictures resulted in him winning many accolades including a hat-trick at the Highlands and Islands Media Awards in 2014, scooping the prestigious Journalist of the Year gong along with Photographer of the Year and Top Shot of the Year prizes.
