THIS year’s Inverness Music Festival was brought to a fitting close on Wednesday night with the much anticipated Premier Competition at Eden Court Theatre.

The week involved six days of hotly contested performances across music, speech and dance, in both Gaelic and Scottish.

Samara Hodi, the festival’s vice-chairwoman, said there were 10 winners of the advanced solo classes, in both classical and traditional music, in the Premier Competition.

She described it as a “fine evening’s entertainment” and added: “We hope to see everyone back in 2021.

“We are looking for active feedback from participants as to how we can improve and develop the event, and work towards our centenary in 2022.”

During the week there were more than 540 performances from more than 2300 performers, with winners from throughout the event taking to the stage for the closing night finale.
