ISOLATED wintry showers are expected to continue in parts of the Highlands overnight - following today’s frequent heavy snowfalls.

Motorists across the region were forced to contend with heavy showers throughout the day, with even busy trunk roads such as the A835 Ullapool-Inverness road providing difficult driving at times.

Drivers on the A9 also had to face challenging conditions, while those living along more minor routes had to take even more care.

These pictures showcase some of the conditions faced by drivers on the A9 earlier this afternoon (Thursday).
