Investigations are continuing today at the scene of the devastating fire that has left a building housing several businesses at Fairways Business Park in ruins.

A masked fire-raiser is being hunted by police after deliberately ramming a Skoda Octavia car into the building and torching the vehicle - causing the huge blaze that erupted just after midnight on Sunday morning.

The fire completely gutted a building containing five different shop units - including SJ Travel Centre, Scottish Premium Seafoods, a Harry Gow bakery, and Hair Chic hairdressers.

As police remained on the scene this morning the car at the centre of investigations was also still there, covered in a tarpaulin.

Much of the car park also remained out of bounds.

Although not directly impacted by the fire, the neighbouring Inverness Kart Raceway announced in the wake of the blaze that it planned to be closed for a few days.

Inverness and District Indoor Bowling Club has also said it will not be open today.

The Fairways Golf Centre and Restaurant said it intended to reopen today having been closed on Sunday, although there has been no further update to that so far this morning.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage relevant to the incident is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference 0032 of 9 March, or ro pass information on anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
