PICTURES: Inverness generations united in VE Day commemorations

Inverness folk old and young refused to let the Covid-19 health crisis dampen spirits during commemorations of VE Day’s 75th anniversary.

Many around the city rolled out the bunting last week and enjoyed tea parties, music, song and laughter with neighbours – while observing social-distancing.

Residents of Castlehill House Care Home in Cradlehall had spent the week leading up to the big day creating their own artwork and bunting to hang out. They were also treated to a piper’s visit and high tea in the afternoon while celebrating with staff.

Acting manager Nicola Donald said: “It was a great way to keep spirits high during this difficult time. The VE Day celebrations mean so much to our older generation.”

In Culloden, ARTventurers Inverness organiser Linsey Macrae and family joined five neighbouring households to defy the weather and party separately.
