PICTURES: Inverness’ first ever Blue Lights Got Talent event hits the right note for charity
It was a night of fun and talent at the Drumossie Hotel on Saturday for Inverness’ very first Blue Lights Got Talent.
The event was organised to raise funds for Cash for Kids and the Highland Hospice and to raise awareness for Celebrating Amy, a fundraising campaign in memory of the late Amy Tuach from Muir of Ord, who lost her battle with diabetes in 2022.
Winners of the night were mum and son duo Sarah (50) Aaron (15) Hewat, whose £1000 prize will be donated to local charity Rokzskool.
They said it felt amazing to win on the night.
Sarah, a learning disability nurse, said about her reasons to take part to the event: “Life is too short and turning 50 last year when some of my friends sadly never will, has really hit home.
“I used to sing when I was younger but lost all confidence so have only been singing in the house and in the car driving my kids nuts for years (apart from the odd appearance usually after a wee drink or two).
“I’m blessed to have three boys who are all very musically talented and I’m honoured to have my youngest son performing with me, a memory that will last a life time.
“For me this is the biggest challenge I’ve ever undertaken and I do like a challenge, but this is really personally putting myself out there.
“I’m happy to do that to raise money for two amazing charities who do so much to support our community and in memory of my friends who didn’t make it to 50.”
The campaign on Just Giving has raised almost £8000 for the two charities.
