A poignant service to commemorate the 75th anniversary of VJ Day which brought World War II to an end was held in Inverness.
During the ceremony at the war memorial in Cavell Gardens, tribute was paid to those who served and died in the conflict with Japan.
The service, organised by the Inverness branch of the Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS), was led by the padre, Canon John Cuthbert.
Wreaths were laid by branch chairman Bart Lucas, committee member Brian Matheson, Roy Harrison for the Royal Engineers Association, George Davidson for the Scots Guards Association, and Brian MacAngus and his son, for the Seaforth Association.
Readings were by Joe Davidson, branch vice chairman, and Lil Davidson, national president of the RBLS Women’s Section.
Millburn Academy pupil Craig Wardrope played the Last Post and Reveille and Pipe Major Gordon Straube played Flowers of the Forest.
The standard was carried by Stephen Campbell.
