Spectacular displays at the Eastgate Shopping Centre formed just part of Inverness's celebration of Chinese New Year.
Members of Yee’s Hung Ga Kung Fu Academy in Inverness were joined by members from other branches across the north east of Scotland for the displays of traditional dragon and lion dancing.
Kirstin Gault, the centre’s digital and marketing executive, said more than 40 stores took part by placing a donation inside a lettuce in their doorways to attract the lion, spreading good fortune and prosperity for the year ahead.
“The centre was brought alive with the vibrant and dazzling performances – it was a real treat for shoppers and passers-by,” she said.
“It was also great to see so many of the retailers involved.”
Other events in the Highland capital to mark the start of the Chinese New Year included a book launch.
Local children’s author Pauline Mackay launched Wee MacNessie Meets the Chinese Lion at the Inverness Town House.
The event included readings in both English and Mandarin.
