Inverness ballet students have been given top marks in national grade exams.

The graduates, from Performers UK in Bank Street, range in age from pre-school to adults. They were filmed for the grade exams on December 23 and have been waiting patiently every since to find out how they got on.

Enrica Ross-Campbell – co-owner of Performers UK alongside Amanda Chisholm and Victoria Rollo – said: “We had planned for 41 children to sit their Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet exam in June 2020, but it was cancelled due to the first lockdown.

“We then rescheduled this exam to be done by video for December 29 but with the unexpected announcement of lockdown two, we had to quickly reschedule again and with the help of teachers and parents, we managed to bring everyone in just before Christmas.

“We spent a full day filming all these children for their exams.

“We’ve just received the results and managed a 100 per cent pass rate.”

Pupils were supported by RAD- qualified teacher Erike Jayne Todd.

Pupils sat exams in Demonstration Class Level 1, Pre Primary, Grade 1 and Discovering Repertoire Level 2.

Ms Ross-Campbell added: “We have children come to us from Inverness, Nairn, Alness, Tain and even Dornoch.

“Our amazing RAD-qualified teacher Erika Jayne Todd is not only the most wonderful dancer, but is the most patient and caring teacher we know.

“She is incredible and we are so lucky to have her as part of the Performers UK team.

“Every child is now working hard on their next level and the syllabus through Zoom until we get back into the studio.”
