Inverness’s Eden Court plays host to Better Beginnings conference and fun day for Highland parents, carers and young children
A fun day ensured there was plenty of laughter in the air in Inverness this week.
The Inverness Family Centre put on a host of fun activities in Eden Court on Monday for families with children aged under five.
The Brighter Beginnings fun day, which coincided with a special conference of the same name, was aimed at highlighting the various activities and resources available to the Highlands’ youngest children.
And around 100 parents and carers were given a fun-filled introduction to some of these resources on the day.
Speaking ahead of the event, Gillian Forbes, PEEP co-ordinator at the Inverness Family Centre added: “We are delighted to be hosting this event. We recognise the importance of the Infant Pledge and working alongside families to give our youngest children the best possible start in life.”
Away from the fun activities, the conference, entitled ‘Brighter Beginnings: Why early years matter’, included talks from keynote speakers including Dan Wuori, founder and president of Early Childhood Policy Solutions in the United States, and international author.
Dan said: “Learning starts before a baby is born and it’s vital that we recognise the importance of education in early years. This event [was] a great opportunity to talk about the role of parents/carers and professionals in giving our youngest children the best possible start in life.”
