A brand new festive fundraiser was a hit success today at UHI Inverness.

With around 80 people running or walking one of the two routes – the short route being 1.42km and the longer route is 3.7km, both pram or wheelchair friendly – at the campus, Maggie’s Highlands first ever Elf Run was a successful sprint to Christmas.

People of all ages dressed up in their best elf costumes to run and support the charity, as Inverness gets into the festive flair with the Christmas lights being switched on today.

Tracey Gill, centre fundraiser for Maggie's Highlands, said they were delighted with the turnout and they hope to make this a yearly

Event.

She said: "It was really a positive day! Half of our runners today were kids so the event had a real family feel and everyone made an amazing effort to dress up in festive clothing - and we gave a couple of prizes away for the best dressed participants.

"All of the funds raised through the elf run help Maggie's Highlands centre continue to support people with a cancer diagnosis and their families and friends across the highlands.

"We really hope to be able to grow the event for next year after todays very successful first outing."

On the day people also enjoyed a Christmas fair with craft stalls and vans as well as the Santa bus parked outside the campus.

The event was aimed to get the whole family involved in some holiday fun – with around £2000 expected to be raised for the charity from the day.
