Pupils at an Inverness secondary school took on a big fundraising challenge last week - with some special guests showing up at the end.
Inverness Royal Academy students were tackling the annual 10-mile walk to raise funds for the school’s extracurricular activity.
Both students and staff took on the challenge, which so far has raised just under £7000, with money still coming in and being counted.
“We are so proud of all our students,” said IRA’s deputy rector Bridget Reid.
“We are among the few schools that still keep the walk to a challenging length, and we were really pleased with everyone’s behaviour.
“Year six pupils were marshalling along the road and they did a great job!”
This was the first year pupils were encouraged to wear a fancy dress on the walk, with many colourful costumes shown on the day as they marched through to Daviot Woods and back.
“One student did the whole walk dressed in an inflatable dinosaur suit…which was surely an extra challenge!” Ms Reid continued.
At the end of the walk, pupils were greeted by some of Inverness Caley Thistle players, who also took the time to play with the students and mingle.
The event is a key fundraiser for the school, which uses the funds to support activities such as sports and drama club and the duke of Edinburgh.
“Everyone was so generous,” said Ms Reid.
