The Liberal Democrats’ Angus MacDonald won a major victory in the newly formed Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire seat.
However, this wasn’t announced until 44 hours after the count began after delays in what has been described as a ‘shambles’.
The declaration means Mr MacDonald is the final MP to be confirmed in the 2024 general election.
The seat was the last in the UK to announce its results leaving voters none the wiser about who their next MP was until Saturday afternoon.
The Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire count had descended into chaos and was abandoned until Saturday following a recount and extensive delays.
