Inverness serious assault prompts police searches

Some areas of Inverness are still blocked off while a visible police presence remains following an attack on a 21-year-old man last night.

Police were seen lifting drain covers and apparently carrying out other searches following the incident.

Earlier police stated the 21-year-old was in critical condition in hospital following the attack in the Telford Street area of Inverness at around 11.35pm last night.

The incident sparked a major police response, with several streets in the area being sealed off and residents reporting officers scouting several streets with torches as they investigated the incident.

A police spokesperson said: "Police remain in the area and anyone with any concerns, or information, can approach these officers.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
