DANCERS made all the right moves to raise almost £22,000 for an armed forces charity.

It was the third time the Come Dancing with Poppyscotland event, in association with Toe 2 Toe Dance, had been held.

Eight couples competed in latin dance and ballroom and the Las Vegas-themed contest attracted more than 300 people to the Drumossie Hotel in Inverness.

Dancers Neil MacKenzie and Sam Brock eventually took home the coveted glitter ball trophy.

Ms Brock said: “I am so proud to have taken part in this amazing event.

“My father served in the Queen’s Own Highlanders so I have always had the upmost respect and admiration for the work Poppyscotland does for our armed forces community.

“This is my way of helping them raise vital funds that are needed in order for Poppyscotland to continue the great work they do. I am just delighted to be a part of this event and I’m astounded that I somehow won!”

The top non-dancing fundraiser was Lauren Bell who raised £1734 via raffles and local business gifts.

Poppyscotland’s regional fundraiser Frances Beveridge said: “Over the past six months our dancers have been working so hard in perfecting two dances and raising money for Poppyscotland. The show just highlights how much commitment they have all put into this. I could not be prouder of them all. I would like to say thank you to all the businesses and the public that have supported us because without you, this would not have been possible.”
