PICTURES: Dalneigh and Ballifeary community picnic

A community picnic with a difference saw children from Dalneigh and Ballifeary pick up a treat from local fundraisers.

Youngsters from across the two areas were given a free lunch courtesy of the Ballifeary Covid-19 Response Group and local business Three Little Bakers.

They also received activity bags to keep them entertained as coronavirus lockdown gave way to the summer holidays.

Ballifeary Covid-19 Response Group volunteer Helen Smith said: “There was a great response from both communities and we were delighted to see children having a picnic with their lunch bags, and then seeing what they were doing with their craft bags.

“The idea was to make a bag available for everyone so they could have a socially distanced picnic.”

She continued: “We wanted to give a wee morale boost.”

The gathering was such a success that further get-togethers are being planned.
