Fire appliances and police were called to the Hilton area of Inverness this evening after a caravan caught fire.

The alarm was raised at 5.56pm and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three appliances to the scene in Johnston Place.

Firefighters wore two sets of breathing apparatus and used a jet and a hose reel jet to tackle the blaze.

The fire was out by 6.57pm and one appliance was left at the scene to monitor the situation.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 6pm on Friday, September 24, police were called to a report of a caravan on fire in Johnston Place, Inverness.

"Emergency services are in attendance and enquiries are continuing."
