PICTURES: Summer artists' work on show at Inverness Creative Academy which was officially opened earlier this year by HRH Princess Anne

A summer market at Inverness Creative Academy welcomed art lovers to browse and buy from among a host of different offerings over the weekend.

The third Wasps’ Summer Artist and Makers Market since the initial phase of the creative hub opened in 2018, last weekend’s was also the first since the completion and official opening of the artistic hub, based in the former Midmills building in Inverness’s Crown area, earlier this year.

The event brought together the work of more than 25 artists and makers for the weekend, featuring paintings in a variety of media, handmade jewellery, greetings cards, ceramics and even crocheted “house plants”.

Among those participating were Wasps’ tenants artist Clare Blois, photographer Evija Laivina and painter Cecelia Mann, together with Glasgow-based SaltSpace Cooperative, Inverness illustrator Megan Alexander and jewellery maker Rhiannon MacGillivray.

The academy is also currently hosting a separate exhibition of paintings by Claire Blois, Fiona Matheson, Dot Walker and Ian Whyte. It runs until August 30 and admission is free.
