PICTURES: 25 win Nairn Library's annual summer book reading challenge – the popular and successful reading initiative is now in its 22nd successful year

A total of 25 youngsters completed Nairn Library’s Summer Reading Challenge.

Almost 40 took part in the annual event which is aimed at encouraging more children to enjoy reading.

The theme for this year’s challenge was Wild World Heroes which raised awareness of environmental issues.

To get a medal and certificate each child had to read six books during the summer holidays.

A spokeswoman said: “Despite these challenging times, 39 local children took part and 25 completed Nairn Library’s Summer Reading Challenge this year, reading a total of 150 books over the summer holidays.

“Medals and certificates were presented recently to those who completed the challenge. Well done to all our medal winners.”

The Summer Reading Challenge is an immensely popular and successful reading initiative which is now in its 22nd successful year.
