As the building of a new £209 million prison for Inverness moved a step closer earlier this year with the signing of a major construction contract, this image gives a glimpse inside the ageing present building 16 years ago.

It forms part of an online retrospective series, Behind The Lens: The Legacy of a Highland news photographer.

It being run by the Inverness Courier in tribute to Highland News & Media photogapher Gary Anthony who died in August 2023, aged 58.

As the man behind the lens, Gary captured moments of history in the making, recorded people's triumphs and tragedies and observed day-to-day life.
