As Inverness prepares to remember those who have died in conflict, we take a look back at some of the past Remembrance ceremonies.

The images, taken by Highland News & Media photographer Gary Anthony, capture the sombre mood and poignancy of the occasion which attracts large crowds each year, bringing together young and old.

They form part of an online retrospective series, Behind The Lens: The Legacy of a Highland news photographer, in tribute to Gary who died in August 2023, aged 58.

As the man behind the lens, Gary captured moments of history in the making, recorded people's triumphs and tragedies and observed day-to-day life.

On occasions, he covered the city’s Remembrance parade and service taking images to reflect the atmosphere from veterans proudly marching out through the streets to the evocative silence and wreath-laying at the Cavell Gardens war memorial.
