Pensioner collapses and dies near Highland shopping centre

An 80-year-old man collapsed and died by the Myrtlefield Shopping Centre in Aviemore yesterday afternoon.

Police officers and ambulance crews attended the scene in front of the Boots pharmacy.

It is believed that the man, who has not been named, was pronounced dead at the scene despite attempts to revive him.

The emergency services were alerted at around 2.45pm.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We can confirm a report was received relating to the sudden death of a 80-year-old man on Grampian Road in Aviemore around 2.45pm.

"There are no suspicious circumstances."
