A man relapsed into drugs despite being sober for months.

So when 35-year-old William Cochrane turned up at his partner’s house in Kenneth Place, Inverness, under the influence of a prescription anxiety drug, his partner would not let him in.

Inverness Sheriff Court was told that Cochrane, who moves between his mother’s and his partner’s home in the same street, shouted and swore and demanded entry.

Fiscal depute David Morton told Sheriff Robert Frazer he also repeatedly kicked the front door before struggling with police and flailing his arms about when they arrived.

Defence solicitor Graham Mann said that Cochrane’s partner knew he had taken drugs and phoned the police to get officers to take him away.

Sheriff Frazer jailed Cochrane – who admitted threatening behaviour along with previous convictions – for six weeks backdated to April 12.

He added: “I suspect that your release may be imminent.”
