Inverness pair to stand trial for attempted murder
Two suspects are to stand trial accused of trying to kill and rob a man in Inverness.
Nathan Hunter (32) and James Marshall (33) are said to have committed the crime in different streets in Inverness on May 17 last year.
It is claimed they threatened the man, slapped and then punched him, causing him to fall to the ground.
Prosecutors claim the duo then repeatedly kicked him and jumped on his head.
The attempted murder charge states their actions were to the man's severe injury, permanent impairment and danger of his life.
It is further claimed the pair stole a rucksack, a bank card and what is described as a housing card from the man.
Hunter and Marshall also face a separate charge of attacking another man on the same day in Inverness by punching him on the head.
Hunter alone is further accused of two other assaults including attempting to choke a police officer in the city's Raigmore Hospital.
He is also charged with being threatening and abusive there.
Lawyers for the pair entered pleas of not guilty during a hearing at the High Court in Glasgow today.
Lady Drummond fixed a trial due to start in March next year.
