Painting under way at possible new Inverness Krispy Kreme premises
After weeks of anticipation, listed building consent has been approved for an Inverness site targeted by popular doughnut firm Krispy Kreme.
Construction development and refurbishment work has progressed at the possible new premises along as the buildings exterior has been painted in the company's band colour green.
Highland Council officials have agreed to the changes at 60 High Street, which is a category B listed premises.
However, a final decision continues not to be made regarding a planning application lodged with the council for the erection of fascia and projecting signs showing the name of the business above the door.
The application, from Callander-based agent WD Harley, states its intention to have the signage in place for at least 15 years.
If given the go-ahead, it looks set to fill vacant premises next to Market Brae Steps, which were formerly used by Commercial Bank of Scotland.
Although some supermarkets in the Highland capital are storing a selection of the tasty treats, the closest outlets are located in Aberdeen.
This would be the first outlet in the region.
A design statement included alongside the approved application says: "The existing building retains character and architectural features to the frontage.
"Our client proposes to simply and sensitivity change this to their branding colours.
"The proposals do not seek to alter the fabric of the external appearance and are for colour changes only."
It points out that the "hanging sign" would be in keeping with other retailers.
"Internally, the feature columns remain untouched, and no works is undertaken on the upper levels," it adds.
