Inverness man grew 13 cannabis plants in bedroom because painkillers ‘weren’t working’

A 29-year-old Inverness man grew cannabis in his home to help alleviate pain he was suffering after breaking his leg, Inverness Sheriff Court heard.

Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told Sheriff Sara Matheson that police were called to David Ross's property in Quayside Court after a report of an ongoing disturbance on October 17, 2021.

"A search was carried out to check the welfare of anyone in the property and 13 cannabis plants ranging in height from 2ft to 5ft were found in a bedroom," she said.

Defending, Marc Dickson explained: "He grew the cannabis as he broke his leg some time ago and painkillers weren't working for him. But cannabis did in that regard."

Ross was ordered to carry out 90 hours of unpaid community work after admitting producing a controlled drug.
