Hundreds join pilot of ‘Nature Bingo’ in Inverness and Moray
Nature Bingo, an accessible game that encourages people of all ages to explore, learn and engage with local nature, is hoping to reach even more people after a successful pilot month.
Participants receive a bingo card and head outdoors to spot plants, trees and wildlife features, marking them off to achieve Bingo.
In its pilot month, over 500 people joined in using a chest and laminated cards across Inverness sites and at Brodie Castle.
To make the game playable anywhere, a demo app has been launched on the website.
Funding is now being applied for to support full development and create a bigger impact.
The project was created in August 2025 by Matt Wallace, who previously founded Clarity Walk.
The idea grew from his observation that many nature sites were underutilised for education and engagement.
It is now owned and supported by The Apprentice Store, a social enterprise that provides meaningful opportunities to young people, ensuring strong community values remain at its heart.
With this foundation, the project is building partnerships with organisations such as Brodie Castle & Estate and Centred Scotland to expand its reach and inspire more people to engage with nature.
The team is also looking to partner with other venues that would benefit from site-specific cards to enhance visitor experiences.
The full app is expected to launch by April 2026, or sooner if funding is secured.
A demo version and printable bingo pack are already available at www.naturebingo.co.uk.
