Inverness woman stole over £100 worth of alcohol from Marks and Spencer

A 40-year-old woman who stole £116 worth of alcohol from an Inverness store just before Christmas last year was remanded in custody pending a background report.

Lorraine Beavis, of St Margaret's Road, Inverness was arrested on warrant and appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court to admit the shoplifting charge which was committed on December 16 from Marks and Spencer.

Sheriff Ian Cruickshank was told there was no recovery and declined to release her on bail, saying: "This was only four days after she was placed on a community payback order."

Beavis will be sentenced on April 3 when she has other matters calling.
