Emblems of the Nazi Party and the Ku Klux Klan have been painted on the ground at a children's play area in Inverness.

Two swastikas and the initials KKK have been scarwled on the tarmac aby an infant's slide at the Milton Pitches, near to Old Edinburgh Road and Locheil Road.

The motifs were noticed by parents walking with children earlier today.

One told The Inverness Courier: "I don't know who did this, but it needs to be removed as soon as possible.

"This is very sad and it makes me and other parents unhappy. It is hugely offensive.

"Children and our babies should not have to be exposed to this.

"It just shows there is still racism in the city.

"Highland Council needs to remove this graffiti as soon as possible."

Another woman said: "I saw this on my way to work at 7.30am and it was there when I came home. Hopefully Highland Council will remove it soon."

Highland Council has been invited to comment.
