Outpouring of tributes for ‘beloved’ and ‘dedicated’ Inverness teacher





An outpouring of heartfelt tributes were shared after a beloved Inverness teacher passed away last week.

Many former pupils, colleagues and friends remembered Catherine Macleod (77), a former teacher at Cradlehall and Raigmore schools in their comments after funeral directors William T. Fraser & Son shared the sad news of her passing.

“A wonderful friend for many years always cheerful, kind and helpful,” shared Sheila Macdonald. “Only good memories remain including times spent together in Keswick with Angus. Now at home with our Lord forever without suffering or pain.”

Commenting on the post, Janine Torrace said she was one of her favourite teachers when she was at Cradlehall.

“I had the immense pleasure of working with Katie and she also taught my boys,” added Audrey Wardlaw. “Lovely lady. RIP Katie. Thoughts to her family and loved ones.”

Brenda Maciver said: “Fond memories of Mrs Macleod at cradlehall. One of the nicest teachers, thinking of her family at this sad time.”

Nikki Blair Moffat said: “Mrs MacLeod was my teacher at Cradlehall Primary many years ago but would still ask after me all these years later. She was such a kind lady. Sending condolences to her family.”

Her death notice read: “Peacefully on Thursday 10th October 2024 at Raigmore Hospital, Catherine 'Katie' Macleod née Maclean, 80 Laggan Road, Inverness aged 77 years.

“Born on North Uist, lived at Shiel Bridge and Vancouver. Dedicated teacher at Cradlehall and Raigmore Schools.

“Beloved wife to Angus for 48 memorable years, ever loving mother to Krista and Don, mother-in-law to Lois, grandmother to Rebekah, Alexander and Evie, and a dear sister to Dolly, Peggy, Lachie and Allan. Sadly missed and a very special friend to many.”

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 23 12pm in Smithton Free Church following interment at Kilvean Cemetery.
