Organisers welcome late entries ahead of Loch Ness classic car tour
Organisers of this year’s Inverness Loch Ness Classic and Vintage Car Tour say the door is still open for late entries ahead of its return on Saturday June 8.
The non-competitive event, held by the Rotary Club of Inverness Loch Ness, is set to welcome owners of classic cars and vintage sports vehicles for a 160-mile tour of roads across the north.

Co-organiser Ormond Smith said: “We’ve lost about three of four entries thanks to a certain concert in Edinburgh held by one Taylor Swift. A few are dragging their kids off to see the concert, but having said that we have three or four new entries, so one compensates the other.
“We had set a deadline for our entry list, but we’re happy to extend the date for late entries. We are hoping that we may attract a few more as it’s all money to charities at the end of the day.”
Classic Car Tours in the north and organisers from the Rotary Club of Inverness Loch Ness are looking forward to greeting entries from many parts of Scotland for this one day event.
The tour is being held to raise funds for two local charities as its principal recipients this year — CHAS (Children’s Hospices Across Scotland) and Highlands and Islands Blood Bikes.
Mr Smith added: “What we decided back in 2017 was to concentrate on local, or local branches of charities who will benefit directly from funds raised. We have supported CHAS in the past, but this year we are also supporting Highland and Islands Blood Bikes, who do a very worthwhile job in the region.”
The route for the 2024 event takes in Nairnshire, Speyside and Glenlivet, returning to the Inverness Ice Centre base via Strathnairn and Loch Ness side, covering around 160 miles on A and B class roads.
Among the cars already entered are a 1950’s Austin A105 Vanden Plas, a Morris 1000 Van — also from the ‘50’s — and evocative sports cars of the 1960’s like the Lotus Elan and the mighty Austin Healey 3000, and a rare Bristol 412 model of which only 97 were ever built.
Full information including and entry form can be obtained from the Tour website lochnessclassiccartour.weebly.com or from event organiser Nicol Manson on 07774 695640 (before 8pm) or by email to nicol.manson@btinternet.com.
