Patients in the Inverness and the Highlands are being encouraged to only order prescriptions that are needed to help the NHS.

In a statement by NHS Highland a spokesman said: "Please help the NHS by ensuring that you order only those prescriptions that you need, and that you collect the prescriptions you ordered from your community pharmacy as soon as they are ready.

"Prescriptions ordered and not collected wastes medicines and uses up community pharmacy time that could be used to provide care to other patients."
